Immediately on arrival I get hit with that peat smoke, the ashy log note hits the mid palate, and that's where those charred peaches and pineapple come in. All of the notes that I had prior to adding the water I thought were very pleasant. It's an easy sipper, well-rounded, there was nothing sharp in this whatsoever.

Very easy arrival. Peat comes on first, bonfire logs, bonfire smoke, embers, black pepper, grilled meat, definitely some leather in here, candied fruit like candied apple, candied strawberries, maraschino cherries. Our value here is okay. It's not super expensive for a 16-year-old, but it's not particularly cheap either.

Lagavulin 16: Single Malt Scotch
I like the peated notes, the saltiness, the vanilla that came through, the grilled peaches and pineapple is a very good touch. It was sweet without being too sweet and it was peated without being the peated notes like the iodine that I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of.

Life could have been worse, sitting here tasting whiskies. Lagavulin 16, very smoky, Hefty but juicy sweetness.

I think the Lagavulin 16 has a charming, approachable, unique fruity profile. It's a good whisky with very broad appeal, suitable for beginners and seasoned drinkers alike.
